VoiceStory Speaker Agreement and Permission Release

This release (the “Release”) will serve as our agreement concerning your participation at the Event.
In order to confirm your slot, the Release must be completed and submitted no later than 21 days prior to the event date you are scheduled to speak at. Failure to submit the Release in time will result in your slot being offered to another speaker.

The Release relates only to the story and content as it is performed at VoiceStory, and in no way restricts you from performing at other events or using your material for other purposes. As the Event date may change, it is understood that this agreement applies to any appearance at VoiceStory.

Digital Recordings

VoiceStory will be recording all the presentations at the scheduled Event (the “Recordings”) with the intention to spread your message, by making these presentations freely available to a global audience.

In consideration for the platform provided to you, and in support of the vision of VoiceStory, you grant VoiceStory and other entities — e.g., broadcasters — as VoiceStory may designate from time to time the right to record, stream, film and photograph your presentation at the Event (the “Presentation”) and to distribute, broadcast, edit, translate or otherwise disseminate it, without any further approval from you, in whole or in part, throughout the world, in perpetuity, in any and all media now known or hereafter developed. This grant includes, but is not limited to, the right to use the Presentation either alone or together with supporting information, such as your name, voice, photograph, likeness and biographical data (collectively, “Supporting Information”).

Examples of permitted uses of the Presentation and Supporting Information include displaying the Presentation on the VoiceStory Youtube channel or on the VoiceStory website, www.voicestory.ca; broadcasting the Presentation on television; and distributing the Presentation on DVDs, mobile phones, films, and other video distribution channels, such as iTunes and Vimeo.

VoiceStory encourages discussion and dialogue around each Presentation. Accordingly, your Presentation may be distributed under a “Creative Commons” license, which allows each distributed presentation to be re-published in non-commercial, non-derivative works, as long as appropriate credit is given and the presentation is not edited or distorted. By signing this Release, you acknowledge and agree that you do not object to the distribution of the Presentation by VoiceStory under a Creative Commons license.

You understand and agree that: (1) VoiceStory is not obligated to use the Presentation or Supporting Information in any way; (2) you won’t receive any form of payment in connection with the use of the Presentation and/or Supporting Information; and (3) you may not revoke the rights granted in this Release.

You affirm that: (1) you have the full power and authority to grant the rights and releases set forth in this Release; (2) you are the sole author of the Presentation; (3) you own all rights to the Presentation, including, but not limited to, all copyrights and trademark rights; (4) you will advise VoiceStory in writing of all third-party material contained in the Presentation (to which you have not secured all necessary rights); and (5) use of the Presentation as permitted by this Release will not violate the rights of any third party.

If any third party claims that the use of the Presentation violates its rights, you agree to cooperate fully with VoiceStory to defend against or otherwise respond to such claim.

This Release contains the entire understanding between you and VoiceStory regarding the Presentation and/or Supporting Information and may not be modified except in writing, signed by both of us.

Photography and Video Recording

Photography and video recording at VoiceStory during the actual performance is not permitted as it is distracting to the other speakers and audience members.

After each show, VoiceStory will upload photos and videos of the speaker performances on social media and Youtube. You are permitted to download images from these social media platforms and use them. You may freely link to any of the images or videos we post on Youtube or other social media.

Your Stage Time

Your time slot is thirteen (13) minutes unless otherwise arranged and agreed with the host.

You are not obligated to use up the entire time slot, however, we request that your story be a minimum of eight (8) minutes.

Please time your story to fit within this time slot as the event has to be completed within a set amount of time.
The host will signal you when it is time to conclude your story, please reply with a simple nod to acknowledge you received the signal.

Video Submission of Your Story for Review

We request that you make a video recording of the story you will be sharing and emailing us a link to it, so we can review it for approval.


The video must be submitted no later than 21 days prior to the event date you are scheduled to speak at. Failure to submit the video in time will result in your slot being offered to another speaker or cancelled.

Cancellation

We run a professionally produced show and expect that you will view this opportunity as you would any other professional engagement.

If you cancel, or are unable to make it to your confirmed speaking slot, please let use know as soon as possible and we request that you help with finding a suitable replacement speaker to fill your slot.

Any cancellations, or no shows the day of the event, without notice will result in the removal of your name for consideration for any future event.
